Man and Woman from 8 million years to present day. Originally one common ancestor from whom developed bipeds with forward facing feet, which enabled quicker movement on the African savannah where there were few trees, and apes whose feet are developed for holding branches.
Fossil bones and footprints found in the Rift Valley and Ethiopia show the gradual development of the hominids with increases in brain size, changes in the skeleton and in the use of tools. Homo Erectus moved from Africa into Asia and Neanderthal and Cro Magnon remains have been found in Europe. Homo Sapiens hunted big game as demonstrated by mutilated fossil bones. From DNA research it is thought that modern people are descended from one woman. The murdered Ice Man found in Austria was carrying a copper axe, dagger and bow and arrow. The Hadza tribe in Africa are still hunter gatherers.
Fossils may be dated by radio carbon dating or by chemical changes in the strata layers where they were found.
