I was a member of the 6th Aintree Scout Group based at St. John’s, Rice Lane during the period 1943 to 1949. We used to take our tents and equipment in a “Trek Cart” pulled by a team of scouts the night before our camp, the distance being about 13 miles. I particularly remember swimming in the Quarry and particularly the nearby showers which were operated by a hand pump taking water from the quarry to the shower hut. Happy Days!
