Following the invitation by the Governors of Scarisbrick Hall School for Society members to visit the magnificent Pugin designed school, twenty members accepted and were treated to a most interesting and informative talk and tour of the building by Mr Aylmer, a director of the school.
Mr Aylmer stressed the intention of the Board is to restore and maintain the Grade One and Two listed buildings. Restoration and repairs having been commenced in a number of areas with a major emphasis being placed on the repair and restoration of the magnificent tower, a most daunting and expensive task.
It is the intention of the Governors of the School to extend its present teaching facilities and subjects. To this end planning applications have been submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council for approval for the construction of Science and Media Studies buildings.
The longer term challenge is to re-establish the boarding element of the School
Mr Aylmer confirmed that it is the intention of the Governors to create closer links with the local community and to open the use of the buildings and the magnificent grounds to the local people.
