Counting Culture, Lancashire’s Hidden Heritage – 30 November 2015

Heather Davies was our guest speaker for this event, giving a most interesting talk about the hidden

treasures in Lancashire’s museums.  Heather showed us slides of a number of items and artefacts

which had been discovered – of all shapes and sizes – and explained the process of preservation and

preparation involved before they could be displayed to the public.

Items varied from silver coins and jewellery to headstones made of sandstone!  The work involved

was fascinating and varied, leading members to realise what an interesting job this was for the team

involved with such conservation work.  A visit to one of the Lancashire Museums discussed is possibly

on the cards for the future of the Society.
