In a particularly well illustrated talk this well known historian and writer gave a clear account of the growth of Liverpool Dockland and the first commercial wet dock and becoming the most modern docks in the world so transforming Liverpool to become the second city of the British Empire.
He described the tough working conditions and selection of workers based upon religion. Ken went on to describe dock construction up to the modern day container services and about the re excavated early dock under Liverpool 3. Regrettably in many people’s eyes the loss of employment is very sad!
