This talk was by Chris Bentley on 9th January 2017.
Mr Bentley was accompanied by Dorothy Hawkes who had helped to select and portray the photographs.
Presumably because of thir age many of the prints were difficult to see and background discolouration impeded clarity, however, many members were able to recognise establishments long since demolished.
Photos displayed included; Town End and St Bedes School, Sudbury Brewery The Kings Arms with it’s fine balcony used for Public announcements.
There were numerous coaching houses and change over stables as this was a busy route from Liverpool to Preston and further North  with a return service  researched back to 1751.
The location of the ducking stool off Dyers Lane was shown as was the Talbot Hotel  and the excise offices
The Victorian water tower was quite magnificent it did not have a use for Ormskirk but in fact pressurised the Lathom and Burscough supplies.
The Pavilion Cinema opened in 1911 and continued as such until1982.
There was a lot of useful information re The town Ropeways the Cottage Lane Pumping Staion the Industrial School The working men’s institute.
