How Ormskirk helped people displaced after the blitz of WW2 (Illustrated)
An enigmatic smile playing on the lips of a very attractive little girl surrounded by heaps of luggage was a real Tear Jerker. The photo was taken in September 1939 when hundreds of Teachers Parents and Children arrived in Ormskirk at the beginning of WW2. They were welcomed into the homes and hearts of the Ormskirk fraternity. Just imagine the stress at passing your offspring into the care of complete strangers.
Roger spoke for over an hour and relayed wonderful stories given to him at a wonderful re-unuion in the town, he has been able to track down 100+ evacuees and present on the evening were 3 gentlemen who were amongst them. Thank you Roger for a particularly good talk and putting in so much research, members greatly enjoyed your presence.
