On Satuday 26th October four members of the society attended a full day of lectures and discussions with prestigious lecturers and extremely knowledgeable members of the Priory museum staff the event was held in the Maritime Museum Liverpool
Some of the subjects covered and discussed included; The Augustinian Canons in Medieval England’ how the Priory fitted into a wider world, there was a bioarchaeological perspective of Mediaeval Lifeways followed by talks about the sculptures and floor tiles at the Priory and a presentation by TV Personality Tom Hall who talked about barbarism and religion, the prophesised end of the world in 801 and the Charlemagne new calendar.
The Priory is well worth a visit and is on the societies ”to be arranged list” and which will be our third visit .
