Lest We Forget – the history and operations of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

 

On Monday15th January the Ormskirk Historical Society had the privilege of a talk given by Glen Hearnden on the creation of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in 1917 through to the present day.

In 2018 the commission are responsible for the commemoration of 1.7 million service personnel killed in the defence of our country and who are interred in one hundred and fifty three countries throughout the world
