Fish, Chips & Little Ships was the title of the talk on the 19th February when we were delighted to have Gordon Bartley share his memories with us.
Gordon showed some fabulous slides of photographs he had taken over the years on his many visits to Whitby and the North Yorkshire coast. The views were spectacular showing the features, architecture, the history and changes in weather conditions.
As many of these visits involved eating, the title of the talk became clear! It was a surprise just how many cafe, pubs and fish & chip meals that had been consumed along the journeys. All the more entertaining for the audience as various restaurant names were recommended.
The reduction in the number of fishing ships was obvious from historical photographs. Gordon gave us an insight into how this had affected the area, along with some dramatic sea and coastal views.
